Nagoya in action:
Protection and fair and sustainable exploitation.

The gabonese forest contains many treasures and high quality products, medicinal plants (traditional pharmacopoeia, Moabi, Iboga...) food plants (manioc, amaranthaceae, gnetum...) or utilitary (okoume, natural construction material..). The protection of those ressources can be acheived through developping fair and sustainable exploitation, turning local villagers into cultivators and keepers of it. This strategy is the only one that allows us to preserve the traditionnal use of plants while opening and meeting to international and national demand and bringing autonomy to villages.
